It's Two-fer Tuesday, Superhero! (Flexibility)

6/30/2020

Today is about water?

“Nothing is softer or more flexible than water,
yet nothing can resist it.”
– Lao Tzu

“Don't get set into one form, adapt it and build your own,
and let it grow, be like water.”
― Bruce Lee

Picture
Water comes to us in many forms. It can appears as steam from a volcanic vent, as rain from a spring shower or as ice from the Arctic shelf. Water sustains all life on our planet. Yet, it asks for nothing in return.

To be like water is to flow with the moment. To be open to taking whatever form is needed temporarily, before moving onto the next. Finding strength, in flexibility and softness.

Wishing you a day of fluid mobility!

Merry Monday to you, Superhero! (Rejuvenation)

Today is about the rejuvenation

"To find the universal elements enough;
to find the air and the water exhilarating;
to be refreshed by a morning walk or an evening saunter.
To be thrilled by the stars at night;
to be elated over a bird’s nest or a wildflower in spring –
these are some of the rewards of the simple life."

– John Burroughs
Picture
Time spent wandering thorough the woods or observing nature at play is time well spent. Enjoying the simple pleasure of being alive has a rejuvenating effect on the body, mind and spirit.

The feeling of morning mist, the scent of jasmine hanging on the vine, the lyrical song of the lark and the vivid spectacle of the sunset engage our senses and draw us in. Their vivacity has a calming effect on the body, and offers us a restful reprieve from anxiety and overthinking.

When we slow down to appreciate the world around us,
we can discover joy in the moment.
And, refreshment for our soul.

Wishing you a day of joyful wonder!

Happy day, wonderful Superhero! (finding Ease)

Today a trick to finding ease
"Mistakes were made."
Picture
There are two thoughts which can help one to find ease in the midst of difficulty. The first, is that everything is happening as it must. The second, is that everyone is doing the best that they can.

Holding these thoughts in our mind, helps to alleviate anxiety and builds our capacity for compassion. When we take them into our heart, we can experience greater ease in uncertainty and discover space for forgiveness.

Wishing you a triumphant day of wonder!

Stupendous Saturday to you, Superhero! (Honesty)

6/27/2020

Today is about honesty...

“I’m a free spirit who never had the balls to be free.”
– Cheryl Strayed
Picture
We are all free spirits. However, sometimes we ignore the call to freedom. Instead, we choose to dismiss our intuition and the longing of our heart, to adopt societal norms and the values of our culture. We often acquiesce, settling for the restless comforts of conformity, because we are afraid to be free.

True freedom demands honesty. It urges us to look deeply into our intentions and motivations; to take responsibility for our actions and reactions; and to be watchful about the ways we allow our fear to imprison us.

Everyone feels fear. Honesty is about realizing that your fear can lock you into beliefs or situations that are neither healthy nor appropriate for you. It is okay to be afraid. It is okay not to confront fear when it is too overwhelming. However, acknowledging your fear can bolster self-acceptance and provide clarity and freedom in the moment.

Wishing you a day of honest revelry!

LYRICS
Believe It or Not
by Joey Scarbury

Look at what's happened to me
I can't believe it myself
Suddenly I'm up on top of the world
It should have been somebody else

Believe it or not, I'm walkin' on air
I never thought I could feel so free
Flyin' away on a wing and a prayer
Who could it be?
Believe it or not it's just me

Just like the light of a new day
It hit me from out of the blue
Breaking me out of the spell I was in
Making all of my wishes come true

Believe it or not, I'm walkin' on air
I never thought I could feel so free
Flyin' away on a wing and a prayer
Who could it be?
Believe it or not it's just me

This is too good to be true
Look at me falling for you
Believe it or not, I'm walkin' on air
I never thought I could feel so free
Flyin' away on a wing and a prayer
Who could it be?
Believe it or…

Believe it or not, I'm walkin' on air
I never thought I could feel so free
Flyin' away on a wing and a prayer
Who could it be?
Believe it or not it's just me

Believe it or not, I'm walkin' on air
I never thought I could feel so free
Flyin' away on a wing and a prayer
Who could it be?
Believe it or not it's just me

Greetings, Superhero! (People Pleasing)

Today is about people pleasing ...

“If you are busy pleasing everyone, you are not being true to yourself”
– Jocelyn Murray
Picture

Being true to ourselves is a challenge which requires a degree of vigilance. It is easy to fall into the trap of people pleasing, sacrificing ourselves and our time, doing things that are not in our best interest.

If, we feel resentful because our efforts to please have not achieved a desired result, we need to question our intentions. We should ask ourselves "What was I hoping to gain?" and "What part of myself have I sacrificed in doing this?"

Wanting happiness for someone else is wonderful. As is, doing things to help others. But, to be true to ourselves, our actions need to be motivated by joyful willingness rather than a feeling of obligation, a way to achieve a particular item, or a need for praise, approval or affection.

Wishing you a day of abundant glory!

Wahoo it's Wednesday, Superhero! (Failure)

6/24/2020

Today is about learning...

"We learn from failure, not from success!”
― Bram Stoker

We learn to succeed through failure. Failure guides us toward new and better approaches. It shows us what is beneficial and what is working for us in the current situation. It is our personal, real-time, always on call teacher.

Failure has the ability to lead us in new directions, to open our minds to previously unexplored possibilities. It provides us with an opportunity to learn something new about ourselves, others and the world beyond our desire.

Failure can expand our capacity for resilience and compassion, if we see it as part of a journey rather than a final destination.

Wishing you a day of sparkling successes!

Twofer Tuesday to you, Superhero (IMAGINATION)

Today is about imagination...

“Imagination is more important than knowledge.
Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world."

- Albert Einstein

“Logic will get you from A to Z;
imagination will get you everywhere.”

- Albert Einstein
Picture
The virtues and benefits of imagination are frequently overlooked in our society. Imagination is often derided, relegated to the realms of the immature, slackers and dreamers, unless it holds the potential for commercial application.

Our imagination is one of our most powerful gifts. It is what allows us to see possibilities, options and diversity. It shows us things, and takes us to places, that have never been before.

Imagination is the expansive vision which creates the future. It introduces us to new ways of thinking and being. Can you imagine anything more awesome than that?

Wishing you a day of creative clarity!

Hellooo, Superhero! (Sing)

Today's inspiration is a blast from the past.

"Sing" was written in 1971 by Joe Raposo for the children's television show Sesame Street, as its signature song. It gained popularity in 1973, when The Carpenters released it as their debut single from their album Now & Then.

Beautifully written and performed, this song is amazing empowering for the young and old, and everyone in between.

So, today, why not sing... sing your song... and let the world sing along.

Wishing you a day of love and good cheer!

LYRICS:
Sing.
Sing a song.
Sing out loud, sing out strong.
Sing of good things, not bad.
Sing of happy, not sad.
Sing.
Sing a song.
Make it simple to last your whole life long.
Don't worry that it's not good enough for anyone else to hear.
Just sing.
Sing a song.
La La La La La La
La La La La La La
La La La La La La
Sing. Sing a song.
Let the world.
Sing out loud.
Sing of love there, could be.
Sing for you and for me.
Sing a song.
Make it simple to last your whole life long.
Don't worry that it's not good enough for anyone else to hear.
Just sing, sing a song.

Stupendous Sunday to you, Superhero! (kindness)

6/21/2020

Today is about kindness.
“Kindness can become its own motive. We are made kind by being kind.”
– Eric Hoffer

Kindness is a gift which can open the hearts of both the giver and the receiver. To embody kindness, one must become kind. But, what is kindness?

Kindness is formless, yet it appears in many guises. It manifests itself differently in each of us. Kindness is being present in a situation and sharing what we can openly and sincerely with others.

Acts of kindness are often generated spontaneously through empathy, with little thought or preparation. However, practicing kindness, with ourselves and others helps us to embed this quality in our reactions to the world.

May your day be filled with kindness and warmth!
