“Anyone can be a hero. You just have to have faith in yourself.”
Quote by Masi Oka

Welcome to the not-so-secret lair of Superhero Unfolding (SU). Like any good  lair, this site is the perfect place to escape villainy. So, feel free to take off your cape, kick off your boots, sit down and relax. You are safe here and so is your secret identity. Ours, however, is about to be revealed.
“We all know that Art is not truth.
Art is a lie that makes us realize truth.”

Quote by Pablo Picasso
Superhero Unfolding (SU) is the underlying concept for a series of public art projects, which explore the themes of identity and self expression, using the iconography of popular culture. Superheroes, to be precise. We have chosen superheroes because of their status as modern myths, their prominence in our culture and the effect that their stories have on the collective consciousness of our society.

This project is driven as much by curiosity as it is by a desire to inspire, empower and delight. It is the intention of SU to co-opt the brand of the superhero. To use its symbols and imagery as a means to inspire joy, creativity and discovery. The Superhero Unfolding project views every human being as a unique occurrence, connected to one another emotionally/energetically through common, shared  or imagined experiences. The goal of this project is to  discover/witness/document the diversity and commonality of response and experience; to provide a temporary venue for imagination, inspiration, connection, warmth and humor to be expressed; and, ultimately, to awaken the hero within!

“I believe that if everyone sees what just a few people become when they wholly embrace their gifts,
others will awaken. Belief in oneself is contagious.”

“To be heroic may mean nothing more than this then,
to stand in the face of the status quo, in the face of an easy collapse
into the madness of an increasingly chaotic world
and represent another way.”
