Today is about creating...

“If you can't set a better example for progress, don't show disapproval against the worse tradition!”
- Israelmore Ayivor

What we are going through now is the beginning of a new phase of our evolution as people, a nation and a species. The rate, direction and outcome of our growth depends on the choices we make individually and as a society. The most important question facing us is what to choose.

I think we all need to move forward, together. COVID-19 is teaching us about connection. Connection to ourselves, our family & friends, our neighbors, our towns, cities, states and countries. It has also taught us about the heart-felt connection of people beyond the artificial borders of the nations on planet Earth. We can choose to see this and build upon it, or plummet into the darkness of fear and anger and squander our energy.

There are two ways to strengthen a system. One is to fight it. The other is to obey it. To weaken a system we must be willing to abandon it. We must work together to build something better. And, without our support, the old system will collapse.

Instead of resistance, channel your passion into creative ways to support what is most important to you. Instead of hiding your head in the sand, look for opportunities where you can create something new. Do something that you love, share joy, create fellowship, include everyone in your thoughts and prayers.

The size and scope of what you do is irrelevant. What is important is that you can choose to do it, right now. Use your creative energy to create :)

Welcome to the weekend, Superhero! (Resilience)

Today is about resilience...

Resilience is the ability to bring forward your inner resources of joy to bolster your spirit through difficult times. Resilience involves being there for yourself; being kind, patient and generous with yourself; trusting in yourself; and being your own best friend.

Nourishing yourself with things that you love, enjoy, or find supportive and encouraging can help top up your inner well of resilience with overflowing abundance.

Whenever I listen to this song, I recall that the hero residing in my heart, always has my back.

LYRICS:
Bridge over Troubled Water
Simon & Garfunkel
When you're weary, feeling small
When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all, all
I'm on your side, oh, when times get rough
And friends just can't be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
When you're down and out
When you're on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you
I'll take your part, oh, when darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Sail on silver girl
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way
See how they shine
Oh, if you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind

Hello my dearest Superhero (Connection)

Today is about connection...

"When one tugs at a single thing in nature, he finds it attached to the rest of the world."
- John Muir

We are part of life's enormous web. Connected to each other, and the world which surrounds us, in myriad ways. Plants have developed symbiotic relationships with insects that ensure their pollination. Insects have developed symbiotic relationships with plants that sustain their lives.

This is no coincidence. This is cooperative collaboration. This is the true nature of life.

Buenos Dias, Superhero! (beginnings & Endings)

Today is about beginnings & endings...

Everything that ends is also the beginning of something else.
- Pema Chödrön

Life is a mysterious process of comings and goings. Nothing is permanent, nothing lasts or stays the same. This simple and true observation holds the key to our happiness and our horror.

Everything that we encounter is in a transitory state. When we forget this, we suffer loss and longing. We cling to images and objects of the past, things and ways of being which no longer exist. We lament and obsess about unattainable desires. Meanwhile, we miss the opportunity to participate in life as it is and the opportunities available to us, here and now.

When we understand that life is a series of hellos and goodbyes, we are able to mitigate our emotional responses and reactions. We are able to recognize the unique, delicate and diverse qualities of the world which surrounds us and develop an appreciation, respect and kinship with all beings.

Everything is a dynamic part of life's cycle, unique, precious and mysterious.
That includes YOU!

Tomorrow is Not Promised

Sometimes people come into your life
And you know right away that they are meant to be there
They serve some sort of purpose,
Or help figure out who you are
And who you want to become

You never know who these people may be;
Your neighbor, child, long lost friend, lover, or even a complete stranger
Who, when you lock eyes with them
You know at that very moment that they will affect your life
In some profound way

And sometimes things happen to you
And at the time they seem painful and unfair,
But in reflection you realize that without overcoming those obstacles
You would have never realized your potential strength, will power, or heart

Everything happens for a reason,
Nothing happens by chance
Or by means of good or bad luck
Illness, injury, love, lost moments of true greatness and sheer stupidity
All occur to test the limits of your soul

Without these small tests, whether they be events, illnesses, or relationships
Life would be like a smoothly paved straight flat road to nowhere,
Safe and comfortable, but dull and utterly pointless

The people you meet who affect your life
And the successes and downfalls you experience create who you are
And even the bad experiences can be learned from
In fact, they are probably the most poignant and important ones

If someone hurts you, betrays you or breaks your heart,
Forgive them
For they have helped you learn about trust
And the importance of being cautious to whom you open your heart?

If someone loves you
Love them back unconditionally,
Not only because they love you, but because they are teaching you to love
And opening up your heart and eyes to things you would have
Never seen or felt without them

Make every day count
Appreciate every moment
And take from it everything that you possibly can
For you may never be able to experience it again

Talk to people you have never talked to before
And actually listen
Let yourself fall in love,
Break free and set your sights high?

Hold your head up because you have every right to tell yourself you are a great individual and believe in yourself.
For if you don’t believe in yourself
No one will believe in you either
You can make of your life, anything you wish

Create your own life
And then go out and live in it
Live each day as if it were your last
Tomorrow is Not Promised...

Good day, Superhero! (Habitual Reactions)

5/27/2020

Today a question about habitual reactions ...

"Every time you are tempted to react in the same old way, ask yourself if you want to be a prisoner of the past or a pioneer of the future." - Deepak Chopra

Life provides us with an opportunity, a choice to learn from our experiences. If we wish, we can react to situations habitually, choosing the same old patterned responses. Alternatively, we can choose to experiment by trying something new.

Habitual reactions and patterned responses stifle our growth and creativity. They suppress opportunities for spontaneity, curiosity and wonder to arise.

When we choose to respond to a situation in a different manner, we trade in these old ways of reacting for a new way of being. We are thinking in the here and now. We are trusting in ourselves and in life. And, most importantly, we are creating who we will be in the next moment.

Hidey Ho, Superhero! (Comparison)

Today is about comparison ...

“Never compare your journey with someone else’s. Your journey is your journey, not a competition.”
- Anonymous

Since every human being is a unique occurrence, there is no basis or ground for comparison. None. There is no one else who could be a better you, than YOU. You are simply and clearly the most excellent YOU for the job.

Each and every human is graced with different powers, talents and ways of being which add color and texture to the world. Each one of us is essential. However, no two lives are the same.

Your journey will lead you to different places, and different experiences, where you will be able to discover the depths of who you are, and what is possible. But, only if you are willing to be nobody but yourself. Your wonderful, wonderful self.

Howdy-do, Superhero (sharing joy)

Today a view on the benefits of sharing

"The sharing of joy, whether physical, emotional, psychic, or intellectual, forms a bridge between the sharers which can be the basis for understanding much of what is not shared between them, and lessens the threat of their difference." - Audre Lorde

Sharing our joy with others is the key to removing the barriers which divide us into separate factions. We have much more in common with others than we are willing to see or admit, when we are mired in negativity or identifying with fear, anger or resentment.

Sharing your joy can be as simple as wearing a smile.
Have you ever noticed how contagious a smile can be?

Here's quote to welcome in the day, Superhero! (Fear)

5/24/2020

"The death of fear is in doing what you fear to do."
- Sequichie Comingdeer

Most fears are a product of our imagination. How often do we find ourselves in a truly perilous situation in which fear would be the appropriate response? More often, our fear is tied to a belief, a personal desire or feelings of insecurity or uncertainty.

When we experience fear, it is often helpful to explore the beliefs which are supporting it. While, this approach may not help us to be less afraid immediately, it will help us to see the way that our thoughts limit our experience.

In doing what you fear to do, you are challenging the beliefs that you have about yourself, others and the situation you are in. You are opening the door to change and growth with courage.

Welcome to the weekend, Superhero! (Fear)

Today a little insight on acknowledging fear...

"Fear keeps us focused on the past or worried about the future. If we can acknowledge our fear, we can realize that right now we are okay. Right now, today, we are still alive, and our bodies are working marvelously. Our eyes can still see the beautiful sky. Our ears can still hear the voices of our loved ones." - Thich Nhat Hanh
