Howdy, SUperhero (basic goodness)

Today a few words about greatness

"Human greatness does not lie in wealth or power, but in character and goodness. People are just people, and all people have faults and shortcomings, but all of us are born with a basic goodness." - Anne Frank

The basic goodness that we are born with IS our power. An innate quality which is available to each of us, regardless of the where we were born, or who we were born to. It is what makes us both human and humane.

A smile and a wink to you, Superhero! (Sorrow)

Today some advice on living

"Participate joyfully in the sorrows of the world. We cannot cure the world of sorrows, but we can choose to live in joy." – Joseph Campbell

Joy is the counterbalance to sorrow. It is also it's antidote. Sorrow dissipates with the emergence of joy, like the brightening darkness of sunrise.

There is no way to avoid sorrow or to permanently remove it from the world. But, by engaging life from a place of joy, we may lift the spirit of those around us. We may inspire others to bring forward the best in themselves. And, over time, we will find our sorrows to be fewer.

Happy Wednesday, SUperhero (persistence)

A thought about persistence.

The doubters said, ‘Man can not fly,’
The doers said, ‘Maybe, but we’ll try,’
And finally soared in the morning glow.
While, non-believers watched from below.
-Bruce Lee

All those who move away from what is known face scrutiny. All visionaries encounter the ridicule and scorn of non-believers. And yet, they persist.

There comes a time when you must act to realize the dream in your heart, regardless of the opinions of others. This is the threshold into courage. This is the honing of your persistence. This is your invitation to fly.

Greeting & Salutations, Superhero! (Belief)

Today a little musing about belief.

"Let go of what you believe cannot be done and you will accomplish great things."
-IChing

Belief limits our experience of life. It sets parameters to an event or situation in an attempt to define or control it. Belief is a hedge against uncertainty. And, functions as a protective barrier against fear of the unknown consequences of our actions. While belief may surround us with a safe haven, it may also imprison us within its rigid confines, stunt our growth and obscure our vision.

Letting go of what you believe is a simple matter of being present to what is happening now. To approach a situation, with curiosity and openness rather than a biased opinion or a predetermined agenda. It is arriving with an open heart and an open mind, and moving toward the indeterminate.

"It always seems impossible, until it is done."
- Nelson Mandella

Hello hello, Superhero! (compassion)

Today an insight concerning compassion.

“Compassion is not a relationship between the healer and the wounded. It’s a relationship between equals. Only when we know our own darkness well can we be present with the darkness of others. Compassion becomes real when we recognize our shared humanity.” – Pema Chödrön

There is a genuine heart-felt quality to compassion, a warm openness without limit or judgement. Compassion flows spontaneously from empathy. When we are able to identify the pain of others in ourselves, to feel/know what they are feeling, compassion arises naturally on its own.

When we are able to accept the darkness in ourselves, we can better understand our actions and the actions of others. We can see ourselves in them. And, realize that just like us, they are learning to live.

Rise and Shine, Superhero! (self Doubt)

Today a thought on self doubt...

“Doubt is a pain too lonely to know that faith is his twin brother.”
- Khalil Gibran

Periods of self-doubt can be isolating. As the mind throws up walls limiting our vision, we become smaller and more alone. Caught in a cycle of negative mind chatter, we relinquish the opportunity to reach beyond ourselves to expand into greatness. And, we suffer.

One way to ease self doubt is to realize that we are all here, just this once, learning how to live. There is no owner's manual for life, no instructions for installation. Rather, life is an experiment. It is through living life, that we find our way.

When we view life from this perspective, we can trust that we will always do our best. And, we will develop faith in ourselves.

Wishing you a day of confidence and love.

A friendly hello to you, Superhero! (Failure)

Today some advice about failure...

“You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.”
- Maya Angelou

Failure is an important part of living. It provides us with opportunities to learn and grow in unexpected ways. It helps us to learn patience, become resilient and develop courage and tenacity. It allows us to know ourselves at a deeper level to find new ways of expression and new avenues to explore. It is life moving us in a new direction. No failure is final.

Wishing you a day full of discoveries!

Good day, Superhero! (BEING You)

5/15/2020

Today is about being you.

“Almost anybody can learn to think or believe or know, but it's very difficult to learn to feel. Why? Because whenever you think or you believe or you know, you're a lot of other people: but the moment you feel, you're nobody - but - yourself.

To be nobody-but-yourself—in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else—means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting.”

- e.e.cummings

A few words about replenishment from Masuro Emoto.

“If you feel lost, disappointed, hesitant, or weak, return to yourself, to who you are,
here and now and when you get there, you will discover yourself, like a lotus flower in full bloom,
even in a muddy pond, beautiful and strong.”

- Masaru Emoto
